  1. Hi Scott,

What is the latest status with NextGen Pro photo lab integration? Any information is appreciated.

    Thanks.

  2. Hi Scott

Any news on the issue of all image metadata, including captions etc, being stripped when ‘Resize on Upload’ is used?

    Many thanks,

    1. Hey Ben,

Turns out this is an issue with supporting PHP 5.2. Many WordPress users still use PHP 5.2. So we have to support that outdated PHP version. In order to ensure metadata is ok during resize, we need to cut out support for PHP 5.2. So we’re trying to find a solution that doesn’t break sites using PHP 5.2. We have a plan to tackle it, but it’s a big project, so it’s a matter of fitting that into the scope of other high priority items. With all that said, no ETA at this point, but hopefully soon!

      1. Thanks Scott, I appreciate the response. I also hope you’re able solve it soon as I’m really missing out by not being able to have retina thumbnails on my site.

        Many thanks,

        Ben

        1. Hey Ben,

You could use the retina feature by having resize on. There is a workaround to get your metadata back. If you do a recover from backup then it pulls the metadata imported to the database on upload. And that should fill in the title, description, and tags. And then once we have the fix in place, you could do it once more to ensure the metadata is retained in the actual image files of the resized versions.

          1. It’s May 2018, I’m using NG Gallery 2.2.54 & Plus 1.5.7– I’ve got resize on, so I get Retina quality. The problem is, when an image is downloaded from my site, the metadata doesn’t transfer along with it. I’ve given your workaround a try, but it’s not making any difference. I suspect it doesn’t really apply to my problem, because mymetadata survives upload, and displays in my lightbox slideshows, just fine.

          2. That would be an unrelated problem. I’d suggest opening a ticket with support so they can look into it.
