So here is the first (very first) test of my new tag system. I'm inspired by the "related posts" and programmed a tag system for each image. I hope it's easy to understand. You can now add the tags under manage gallery (see picture). I must program some automatic adding of tags, when you upload a bunch of files via FTP or ZIP...

What I now really like, is the new option "Append related images at each post". Beginning from WordPress 2.3 no images were found
you only need to enter tags in your post and NextGEN Gallery will add related images with the same tags (or categories).As you can see in this post I added the tags "cologne, wordpress" and below this post you can see the related images...
