How to Use Bulk Actions in Imagely

Do you want to apply changes to multiple images in your gallery at the same time? Managing images one by one can be time-consuming, but the Bulk Actions feature allows you to edit, move, or delete groups of images instantly.

In this guide, we’ll show you how to use the Bulk Actions menu to manage your gallery images efficiently.

Accessing the Bulk Actions Menu

The Bulk Actions menu is located within your gallery settings. To access it, you’ll first need to open the WordPress admin area.

Next, navigate to Imagely » All Galleries.

From here, click on the name of the gallery you want to edit.

This will open the gallery view where you can see all the images stored in that specific gallery. To use a bulk action, you must first select the images you want to modify.

You can check the box next to individual images, or you can check the box at the very top of the list to select all images in the gallery.

Once you have selected your images, click on the Bulk actions dropdown menu located above the image list.

Available Bulk Actions

There are several actions you can perform on your selected images. Here is a breakdown of what each option does.

  • Delete Selected: If you want to permanently remove images, select this option. It will delete the selected images from your gallery.
  • Recover Selected: This action allows you to recover image files from the backup image file. This is useful if you want to restore the version that was originally uploaded and stored on the server.
  • Generate Thumbnails: This option creates new thumbnails for the selected images. This allows you to resize the thumbnails based on your current settings.
  • Rotate Clockwise/Counter-clockwise: This will rotate the selected images 90 degrees in a clockwise or counter-clockwise direction.
  • Resize Selected: Use this option to resize the dimensions (in pixels) for the images used within the lightbox.
  • Import Metadata: This scans the image files and imports the metadata again, overwriting any initially imported metadata.

While this isn’t usually necessary, it is helpful in cases where image metadata didn’t import correctly when you first uploaded the images.

  • Copy To…: This copies the selected images and files from the current gallery to a different one. The images will remain in the original gallery and also appear in the new one.
  • Move To…: This moves the selected images from the current gallery to a different one. Unlike the “Copy” action, this will delete the images from the original gallery.
  • Edit Tags: This option allows you to manage tags for multiple images at once. You can add new tags, replace existing tags, or remove tags for all selected images.

Conclusion

That’s it! You can now use the Bulk Actions menu to manage, edit, and organize your gallery images with ease.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I undo a Bulk Action?

In most cases, no. For example, if you choose Delete Selected, the images are removed. However, options like Recover Selected can help you restore images from server backups if the original files are still present. We always recommend having a site backup before performing bulk operations.
