Excluding Images

Sometimes you want an image to stay in a gallery without appearing on the page – a shot you are not ready to publish, or one that only belongs in a different layout. Imagely calls this hiding an image. (In older versions it was called excluding.)

Hiding keeps the image and all its details. It simply stops it from being displayed. You can bring it back at any time.

How to hide an image

1. Edit the page or post that contains your gallery.
2. Click the Imagely block to select it, then click Edit. The gallery setup modal opens on step 01 Images.
3. Find the image you want to hide and click the ⋮ button in its top-right corner.
4. Choose Hide Image.
5. Click through to the last step and click Update, then update the page.

The image stays in your gallery but no longer appears to visitors.

How to bring a hidden image back

Follow the same steps. On a hidden image the menu entry reads Show Image instead. Click it, then save.

Hiding several images

There is currently no bulk option for hiding – the Bulk Actions menu covers watermarking, deleting, thumbnails, rotating, resizing, metadata, and copying or moving images, but not hiding. To hide several images, repeat the steps above for each one.

If you need to hide a lot of images at once, it is usually quicker to move them into a separate gallery instead: tick them, open Bulk Actions, and choose Move to….

Changing the order instead

Hiding and reordering are separate tools:

• Drag an image by its move handle to place it by hand.
• Use Sort Images to reorder the whole gallery at once – by ID, filename, alt text or date, or to invert the current order.
