Google Permissions for OAuth

In order for the Google Photos integration to work seamlessly, a small set of permissions is granted by users during the standard OAuth flow when connecting a Google account to Imagely.

Below is the list of Google permissions we ask for and what NextGEN Gallery by Imagely uses them for.

Note: the exact permissions asked for may change based on the version of NextGEN Gallery you’re using and which Google integrations you’ve activated.

Google Photos (Selected Items, Read-Only)

This permission is used by Imagely to power the Add photos from Google Photos flow when you’re creating or editing a gallery.

When you click Add photos from Google Photos, Imagely opens the official Google Photos picker. You browse and select the specific photos and videos you want to import. Imagely only receives the items you select in that picker, the rest of your Google Photos library is never accessed.

The permission is read-only.

On the Google consent screen, this permission appears as the single checkbox “See selected photos and videos from Google Photos.”

Google Account Identification (Email Address)

This permission is part of the standard “Sign in with Google” flow and lets Imagely see the email address of the Google account you’re connecting.

Imagely uses this so you can tell your connected Google accounts apart on the Integrations page, particularly useful if you connect more than one account (the NextGEN Gallery plugin supports up to three connected Google accounts).

This permission is included in the standard sign-in step and does not appear as a separate checkbox on the consent screen.

How to Disconnect or Revoke Access

You can remove Imagely’s access to your Google account at any time, either from inside the NextGEN Gallery plugin or directly from your Google account settings. Either path fully revokes the permission grant.

From NextGEN Gallery by Imagely:

1. In your WordPress admin, go to Imagely » Settings » Integrations.
2. Find the connected Google account card.
3. Click Disconnect.

From your Google account:

1. Visit myaccount.google.com and sign in.
2. Go to Security » Your connections to third-party apps & services.
3. Find Imagely in the list and click Remove Access.
