How to Set Up a Proofing Gallery

Proofing lets your gallery visitors to pick which images from a shoot they want you to process and make available for ordering. It’s ideal when you’ve captured several versions of the same pose or scene and want the visitor to choose their favorites before you finish the work.

Turn on the Pro Lightbox

Proofing works through the Pro Lightbox, so enable it first.

1. Go to Imagely > Settings > Lightbox Effects.

2. In the Lightbox Library dropdown, choose Pro Lightbox.

This setting applies to all galleries on your site.

Enable proofing on a gallery

1. Open the gallery you want to use (or create a new one), and go to its Customize tab in the gallery editor.

2. Turn on Enable proofing.

3. Make sure the gallery also has Display Triggers turned to “Always” (or hover captions enabled) – the selection button won’t appear without one of them. This is why the option shows the reminder: “Trigger buttons or hover captions need to be enabled for proofing to work.”

Once the gallery is live, a selection icon appears in the Pro Lightbox (and on the trigger button below each thumbnail). Visitors click it to add an image to their proof selections.

Review client submissions

When a visitor submits their picks, you’ll find them here:

– Go to Imagely > eCommerce > Proofing.

This is the Proofing Requests list. Each row is one submission. Click View Request to see the visitor’s contact details and the filenames of the images they selected.

How to use it

1. In the gallery lightbox, the visitor clicks the selection star icon on each image they want.

2. They click your submit button (default Submit Proofs) and enter their name and email.

3. They’re taken to your confirmation page, which lists everything they selected.

4. Their submission then appears for you under Imagely > eCommerce > Proofing.
