Visual Flow Can Improve Your Lightroom Editing

Our friends at SLR Lounge and a company called DVLOP have partnered on a cool new Lightroom preset system called Visual Flow.

Long story short is that Visual Flow can and should speed up your Lightroom workflow, editing time and much more.

What they have done is put together two packages so far, with more in the works.

The first package is a Retouching Toolkit. The goal is to offer quick things like dodging and burning, skin smoothing and more, using a handful of presets organized perfectly for fast taking actions.

The second package is called Modern. This utilizes their Lighting Condition-Based methodology for fast edits. If a photo has hard light, you use the hard light preset. If backlit, you use that preset, and so on.

The end result would be all photos looking similarly edited, no matter the lighting condition.

Here is the video introduction to Visual Flow.

We have a copy of the Visual Flow presets and look forward to trying them out. In the meantime, we hope that you'll read further details in the official press release down below, and also check out the VIsual Flow website for additional content, samples and more.

It's exciting times for Lightroom users as more and more companies innovate in the preset space.

SLR Lounge and DVLOP Partner to Launch Visual Flow, a New Photography Image Development Company

Tustin, CA, - October 30, 2019 - SLR Lounge and DVLOP have partnered to launch Visual Flow, a new image development company with a patent-pending approach to image processing called “Lighting Condition-Based Development”. SLR Lounge, a leading photography education community, and DVLOP, a leading image processing company, leverage their combined 15 years of preset development experience to release two products upon launch, The Modern Preset Pack for Lightroom and ACR and The Retouching Toolkit for Lightroom and ACR.

The Modern Preset Pack that includes 10 presets, one for each of the most common lighting conditions that portrait photographers encounter, including soft light, hard light, green tint, tungsten, and others. To use the presets, the photographer simply selects the appropriate lighting condition based on the scene, and the engine does the rest - creating a consistent, refined, and professional image. The Modern Preset Pack creates a warm, vibrant and natural look, a style popularized by SLR Lounge’s sister company, Lin and Jirsa Photography, a Southern California-based luxury wedding photography studio. Visual Flow intends to release more packs in the future to help photographers create a variety of looks and styles.

Lighting Condition-Based Development was designed out of need. Pye Jirsa, the lead designer of the presets, says “The single biggest reason most presets don’t work is because they are designed for ideal lighting conditions. So a preset might work well on certain images, but when applied to a backlit, tungsten, or high dynamic range scene, it doesn’t yield good results. Because lighting conditions constantly vary, after applying a preset we are stuck making multiple adjustments to get our images to look right. This process is time consuming, and we often never get to where we want to go.”

The second product released is The Retouching Toolkit for Lightroom and ACR. These comprise 47 retouching brushes and 26 tools for advanced editing directly in Lightroom or Adobe Camera Raw. They give photographers editing capabilities previously thought to be only feasible in Photoshop, such as smoothing skin, eyes, and lips, dodging and burning; adding sun flares; enhancing skies; and more.

The one-click presets in the Modern Preset Pack, used in conjunction with the Retouching Toolkit, is designed to increase the speed of photographers’ workflows so they can spend more time shooting and less time photo editing.
